Helena uses painting, drawing, and diorama as part of her research into phenomenology of place, memory, and spatial narrative. She also engages with visualization in relation to sonic experience. To make her abstract landscapes, she conjures sculpture, synesthesia, and automatic drawing. She has developed her visual art practice through community (life drawing, workshops, classes, demos) and long periods of private practice in various genres. She has worked with oils, ink, collage, digital manipulation, pencil crayons, and more.
